The United Nations Correspondent

Our Purposes

The San Francisco Conference in the spring of 1945, taking place while World War II was ending, resulted in the creation of the United Nations for the purpose of saving “succeeding generations from the scourge of war.”

The journalists excelled in their coverage of the historic event. They were the first United Nations correspondents.

News correspondents today continue the task of reporting on UN activities around the world. Stephen C. Schlesinger wrote in his acclaimed book Act of Creation: The Founding of the United Nations that “thousands of reporters, indeed, arrived (in San Francisco) from all the world, most of them from the United States, and displayed an insatiable appetite for stories.”

This website aims to recognize all journalists who at present time are covering activities at UN headquarters in New York, Geneva, Vienna or in the fields. It recognizes also former UN correspondents who have moved on to other assignments.

UN correspondents can use this platform to share their professional experiences; connect with each other and reminisce moments when they worked as UN correspondents. They can post articles, blogs or opinion and photos. United Nations news are relevant.

The website will serve also as an educational tool for students in journalism at schools anywhere in the world. UN correspondents can share their experiences and knowledge to emulate students in pursuing a career in journalism after graduation.

The website’s home page will publish current news about the UN and other international organizations. It will display photos of journalists at work in past decades and now.

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English.
