2020 was the worst year for international tourism

International travels and nearly all touristic activities worldwide were cancelled under the pandemic in 2020.

The United Nations World Tourism Organization said international tourist arrivals – or overnight visitors – plunged by 74 per cent in 2020 over the previous year, which amounted to about 1 billion fewer arrivals and caused an estimated loss of 1.3 trillion US dollars in export revenues.
